 Model Notes
  • The annual Wolfsburg Edition sales campaign began with the 1983 model-year Rabbit Convertible and was offered for that year only in triple-white. In 1984, there were two Wolfsburg Edition models offered: triple-white and triple-black.  Beginning with the 1985 model-year Wolfsburg Edition, additional colors were added to the line-up.
  • Star Blue Metallic was only offered on the 1989 Wolfsburg Edition Cabriolet which was part of a special 40th Anniversary sales campaign; this model had its own special interior (commonly called "Helios") and color-matched Silverstone wheels.
  • Contrary to popular belief, these models were not assembled at the Wolfsburg plant; they were built right alongside all other Cabriolet models at the Karmann factory. Wolfsburg Edition Cabriolets may have special features (particularly wheels and interiors) which increase their current values by a few hundred dollars, but were nothing more than part of a smart annual marketing campaign by Volkswagen to dump end-of-year models.
