 Notes about Cabriolet Interiors

Interiors listed in the tables linked above are listed in alpha-numeric order by interior code and contain the following information:

Interior: This column shows a thumbnail of the interior.  Simply click on each thumbnail to see a larger image.

Interior Code: This column lists the interior code for the interiors; each interior has a two-digit code much like the paint color has a four-digit code.  This two-digit code can be found on the build sheet sticker located in the trunk, provided your car still has it.  Those codes listed in blue are codes that have been confirmed; that is, the code has been definitively matched to the interior.  If you can confirm any of the remaining codes (i.e. your car still has its original interior and build sheet), please feel free to contact me!  The codes do not mean much today since all of these interiors have long been out of production and/or unavailable; the codes are provided for historical/research/restoration purposes.

Type: This column lists the seating surface type (cloth, vinyl, or leather) and whether the front seats are sport seats.  Seating surface notes: 1) Those noted as "cloth" are not 100% cloth, nor are the door panels; vinyl is used on the backs and sides of the seats as well as the majority of the door panel.  2) Leather interiors are not 100% leather (except where indicated); the seating surfaces are leather as are the headrests, all other areas are vinyl (these lists do not take interior trim items such as shift boots into account).  Seat type notes: All front seats are bucket seats; however, those with raised bolsters are considered to be sport bucket seats and are noted as such.

Style: This column lists the seat style of the front and rear seats, and headrests.  The style numbers and/or letters refer to the table below.  Please note: The style labels do not correspond to suppliers' style labels and are not VW labels either; the style labels are for this site only.  If ordering new seat covers, be sure to refer to the style description.

Models: This column lists the models each interior was installed as standard or optional equipment.  Base models could usually be ordered with the option of sport bucket front seats, hence the same code for some bucket and sport bucket seats (unlike in Europe, North America utilized the same interior code for several base model interiors; it was the M-code that differentiated the seat type).

Locations: This column lists the countries in which the interior was available.

Years: This column lists the years the interior was available and is not necessarily country-specific if more than one country is listed.

*The interiors are divided into color categories and are based on their predominant color, which is usually the color of the door panels and/or seatback vinyl.
